Alert levels and advisories

Four levels, a ceiling rule, and a strict line between guidance and official warnings.

Four alert levels

Four levels are published: no alert, watch, warning and severe. The level comes from the alert policy in force, at or below the configured ceiling for each hazard class, and is never inflated by this site.

Official warnings

When an official warning is in force for a district, it takes precedence over anything this site shows for that district and hazard.

HazardNet is decision support, not an official warning service. Official warnings come from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.

Advisories

Advisories are sector guidance derived from the published outlooks, written around the exposure each district carries (for example, the main crop). They are guidance for planning, not warnings, and they never override an official warning.
