The HazardNet platform

What the system publishes, which surface shows what, and where official warnings come from.

What HazardNet publishes

HazardNet is a multi-hazard early-warning decision-support system for Bangladesh. It combines a statistical classifier with independent physics proxies and publishes district-level outlooks for eight hazard classes across 7-day and 15-day horizons.

  • Scope: the 64 districts of Bangladesh, grouped into 8 divisions.
  • Output: one published forecast record per district, hazard class, horizon and forecast date.
  • Honesty: forecast skill is not yet validated against observed outcomes. See the verification page.
  • Methods: model code, dataset collection, training and benchmarking are research-private. Results and outputs are public.

Product surfaces

  • Live situational map: satellite, precipitation, wind and the district layer in one view.
  • Forecast dashboard: overview, saved districts, compare and settings.
  • Hazard classes: one page per class carrying its full methodology.
  • Districts and divisions: the current outlook for every district and the division roll-ups.
  • Alerts and advisories: published alert levels and sector guidance.
  • Analytics: trend and comparison views over the published record.
  • Historical archive: 3,062 catalogued hazard events since May 2000.
  • Downloads, system status and the last run: the published artifacts and the state of the pipeline.

Official warnings

Alert levels on this site are published at or below the configured ceiling for each hazard class and are never inflated. Where an official warning exists, it always takes precedence.

HazardNet is decision support, not an official warning service. Official warnings come from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, and HazardNet defers to them.
